Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Vitus Reflux (Prank War in the 32nd Century)

Published:

In Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, we have established the School on Earth, and we also find that the War College is on the same campus as the newly rechristened Starfleet Academy. Of course, nothing can go wrong there…

Empathy takes time to Grow

With the War College trying to prove their “superiorty” they decide to start pranking the Academy. Of course, the pranks are just affecting our series regulars. So how do we have them butt heads even more? Competition!

But first, we need to establish the poor little perfect rich boy trope with Darem Reymi. So he pushes himself to be the best. Even if he has to go to an underhanded tactic to distract Genesis to win the coveted Team Captain jacket.

This eventually boils over, and both schools have an impromptu late-night competition in the academy atrium.

The Heat of “Battle”

As the atrium is turned into a modern laser tag field. Darem tries to take on the entire War College team single-handedly and keep the rest of the academy cadets on defense. He consistently keeps riding the bench, getting zapped out, so finally Genesis steps up and shows him how to lead, starting to gain points against the War College.

OF COURSE, they get caught! With no clear Winner.

Growth is never Easy

Captain Nala has been hinting the entire time on how the Academy Cadets can get even with the War College. eventually, the combined efforts will plant a rare endangered species in the War College Dorms. The students can’t touch and must remain calm, as they are empathetic. Does this mean they are moving out and getting some distance from the Academy?

From the Warp Core

Now that the luster of the maiden voyage has worn off we are going straight int othe teen drama high school stories. Sadly, this is interchangeable regardless of the setting. Hogwarts, Monster High, Nevermore Academy, etc. The only difference is that this show is set in the 32nd Century.

Not only that, but the outfits, and even more so the workout clothes, are giving me more of that infamous Decon Gel scene. I honestly thought we had moved on from the objectification of Sexy Trek?

There is a subplot of the will they won’t they with Caleb and Tarima, with the will they won’t they, and how she chose to join the war college cause shes afraid of herself.

The only saving grace for this episode is finding out that our favorite deadpan engineering instructor, Jett Reno, and Lura Thok are a couple!! Because French/Klingon Fusion cuisine is something I didn’t know I needed until now.

Here’s hoping that the show does a Picard maneuver and quickly warps back into a Trek show.

I’ll give it credit for the sets, the effects, that design, but the storylines so far are cut and paste.
