The Story

Matt – This issue is good old-fashioned light-hearted fun in every shape and form. I truly feel there is some life lesson being told in each issue, and this Thanksgiving special is no exception. Even your worst enemy can be misunderstood, and those who seek to harm you are doing it for the wrong reasons. Kara learned something about herself and others, and not to be so quick to judge, which I think Sophie hit on the head.

Megan – With the holidays right around the corner, what better way to celebrate than with Supergirl trying her best to save the day and a super Thanksgiving meal had by all? In Supergirl #7, Kara is affected by the turquoise Kryptonite and turned into a mermaid. It was all a plan set up by her enemy, Leegra, to et her to go into the ocean. While Leegra is usually her enemy, this is actually a cry for help as Kara is the only one able to help the shark princess.

Meanwhile, everyone is back at the Thanksgiving dinner, worried about Kara’s whereabouts, most notably Lesla. Lesla has a very hard time understanding the meaning of the holiday, but with a dinner surrounded by Superman, Lois Lane, and everyone that loves her, she’s sure to turn that frown upside down.

The Art

Matt – Sophie and Tamra are doing beautiful work in this issue. Kara keeps her Supergirl essence despite being turned into a mermaid, and the duo crafts up some wicked creatures from the depths. There are a lot of greens and purples that stand out, and I love the beautiful spreads and joy from everyone on Thanksgiving!

Megan – The artwork of Supergirl #7 is covered in vibrancy and lightheartedness, all thanks to Sophie Campbell, Tamra Bonvillain, and Becca Carey. Matching the fun storyline, the artists really excel in making this comic exciting and heartwarming, which was the perfect tone for a Thanksgiving story.

Final Thoughts

Matt – 9.5/10. Supergirl #7 continues to hammer home important lessons that I feel we can take into our everyday lives. Sophie, Becca, and Tamra set up a delicious feast and were suddenly in Thanksgiving mode!

Megan – 9.1/10. Supergirl #7 nails the feelings of the holidays, whether it be not being a fan of the holidays, or wanting to spread thankfulness and cheer. With a fun storyline, excellent artwork by the artists, and a lesson in showing kindness, you won’t be disappointed with the comic!

Overall Grade – 9.3/10
