Top 10 Fantastic Four Performances of All Time!

In preparation for the Fantastic Four: First Steps, let’s look back to the past. These are all the actors that have taken on the roles that we know as Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, Reed Richards and The Thing. Whether you were a fan or not a fan of the live-action movies.

9. Jessica Alba as Sue Storm: Fantastic Four Rise Of The Silver Surfer (2007)

Jessica Alba didn’t really convey the nurturing and the ‘family’ aspect of Sue Storm. Overall her performance did make an impact on how people see Sue Storm as a character. I believe Alba did the best she could with the material that she was given. At the time, the Fantastic Four was not as successful.

8. Chris Evans as Johnny Storm: Fantastic Four Rise Of The Silver Surfer (2007)

Before Chris Evans became our beloved Captain America, he was Johnny Storm. It was again not one of Evans’ best performances, but he played Johnny like he only knew how to. Evans also reprised his role as Johnny Storm as a surprise in the successful Deadpool and Wolverine movie.

7. Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm: Fantastic Four (2015)

Another actor that was introduced in the Marvel Universe, before he took on a much better role. Before Michael took on Killmonger in the Black Panther film and Wakanda Forever film as a cameo, he was Johnny Storm. Michael did a decent job in the Fantastic Four, but again was someone who couldn’t get the role down.

6. Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm: Fantastic Four (2015)

This iteration of Ben Grimm was interesting. Again Jamie brings a unique take to the beloved ‘The Thing’ character. It still was not deep enough performance for my liking. I also was not a big fan of how Ben looked in the film.

5. Miles Teller as Reed Richards: Fantastic Four (2015)

Miles Teller is a wonderful actor, and playing Reed Richards is a tall order. He was portraying Reed as a much younger scientist, but, that was mistake number one. In the comics, Reed is much older than Miles at that time of the film. Miles had a decent performance, but once again, not up to the standards of a good performance.

4. Doug Jones as Silver Surfer: Fantastic Four Rise Of The Silver Surfer (2007)

Doug Jones took on the fan favorite Silver Surfer. As cool as he could be, Doug did a good job as the character. He brings a lot of emotion to the Silver Surfer, and I do enjoy the CGI aspect of it. I definitely liked his performance of the Silver Surfer in this film.

3. Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards: Fantastic Four (2005)

Ioan’s performance as Reed was really good. Unlike Miles, he brought an aurora to the role, and showed a different side of Reed. I didn’t mind the way that he tried to be the lead of the family. One shortcoming was the emotional aspect of Reed, that I think we might even see in the new Fantastic Four movie.

2. Kate Mara as Sue Storm: Fantastic Four (2005)

Kate brought a good performance. She brought an energy that I haven’t seen from any of the other Sue Storms. I think she really did try her best to fulfill the role, and bring Sue Storm to life.

1. Michael Chiklis as The Thing: Fantastic Four Rise of The Silver Surfer (2007)

Michael was the best I’ve seen as ‘The Thing.’ I’m hoping that Ebon might change my mind, but he is the best. Michael brings the sweet and the intense side to Ben Grimm. I was really happy with his performance, and he definitely earns his number one spot.
