Acting legends Brad Pitt and George Clooney have teamed up once again for the Jon Watts helmed action-comedy Wolfs. Clooney plays a professional fixer hired to cover up a high-profile crime. When a second fixer (Pitt) shows up to clean up the same job, both are forced to work together to make the events of this night disappear.
As the two of them attempt to work in harmony (spoiler alert: they don’t) to clean up the mess they were hired for, the night starts to go off the rails. Drugs, gangs, dance numbers, shoot outs and even a seemingly invincible perp is only the tip of the iceberg for these two frenemies to try and navigate on this fateful night.
As anyone would guess the chemistry between Pitt and Clooney is off the charts. The two lone wolfs reluctantly working together is the crux of the entire movie. That is either going to work for you or it isn’t. If you’re looking for non-stop action between two of Hollywood’s best, this isn’t your movie. I personally could watch these two bicker and traverse the rules of fixers for hours.
The most interesting part of the relationship between the two is that on the surface there is hatred for each other, but really it’s hatred for themselves. Talking a one person job and making it a team effort, puts a reflection of yourself right in front of you. That can really make you think. Some people might think the film is completely hollow, but there is a great message of respect for dedicating your life to a craft. A message of balancing that dedication with things that make you happy and fulfilled, including unexpected friendships.
All in all Wolfs is pretty fun. Even though the dynamic between Pitt & Clooney carries the entire film on it’s back, Austin Abrams is a constant scene stealer. The ending might set up a more exciting film, but most will leave this one with a massive smile on their face.
