The juxtaposition between the gods and the families will make your heart ache. Remender’s storytelling prowess makes you empathize with those who have sacrificed their children, leaving a sinking feeling in your stomach when you glimpse the gods’ callousness. Rokos, a character who had already shown shades of villainy, takes a further plunge into self-centeredness, solidifying his role as the antagonist.
What truly stands out is the growing tension between the two opposing sides, notably between Luna and Rokos. This issue builds upon 2 key characters, the Foreman and Princess Soluna, whose roles in the unfolding narrative could prove pivotal in shaping the future of the story. The mysteries surrounding the sacrificers and their purpose begin to unravel, and the stakes have never been higher. Remender has set the stage for an epic clash of beliefs, and it’s impossible not to be eager for what comes next.
Max Fiumara’s art and Dave McCaig’s colors breathe life into the story. The celebration sequence, in particular, is a visual masterpiece, perfectly capturing the conflicting emotions running through the characters. The art and colors expertly enhance the tone of the story, mirroring the complex emotions that are at play.
