DC animation hits once more, dare I say striking gold, with this adaptation of the classic Knightfall comic. Every moment of watching this beautifully animated film had my full attention from start to finish, like Batman speeding through Gotham all gas and no brakes! Of course, the two biggest stars of the show are Batman (Voiced by Anson Mount) and Bane (voiced by Michael Mando). Both are nothing short of spectacular giving some next level performances, both characters feeling as if they were ripped straight off of the comic page. I personally love the sharp pointy shoulders for Batman and seeing the visible wrinkles in his cowl and you’ll never hear me complain about that classic Bane mask.
The animators really make Bane pop and stand out as, not only a huge physical obstacle for Batman, but a tactical genius on par with the Caped Crusader. Ruthless, efficient and cold would describe him to a T, never faltering with his beliefs or his mission. Getting to see his origin and understand how he became the monster that he is was executed flawlessly I really felt invested, not just enamored by the character. Michael Mando’s voice as Bane just feels so perfect.

Capturing both Bruce Wayne and Batman is a very hard thing to do to. Anson Mount as his voice actor fits together like a puzzle, truly showing you Batman as he is including all of his strengths and all of his shortcomings. They demonstrated it perfectly through every encounter whether it be Bruce talking to his therapist and Alfred, or his fights with some of his villains as Batman. Trying to keep everyone out of harms way by toughing it out alone, which is classic for the character, while maintaining good intentions even when your Batman proves everyone needs a helping hand once in a while.
Final Thoughts:
As hard as it to stand out when there are countless DC animated movies, Knightfall truly finds a way to stand out. The film is a very memorable and worthwhile watch for anyone whether your a huge DC fan, like myself, or not. I cannot recommend this film highly enough. If Part 1 is anything to go by then this trilogy will be absolutely top tier, and I’ll be waiting with bated breath for the next part to come out. From the story to the animation to the star studded voice actors, this movie is a rare 10/10 from me!
