This August, Black Cat returns in an all-new solo ongoing series written by acclaimed writer G. Willow Wilson (Ms. Marvel) and illustrated by rising talent Gleb Melnikov (Amazing Spider-Man). Spinning directly out of Joe Kelly, Pepe Larraz, and John Romita Jr.’s Amazing Spider-Man, the new series sees Felicia Hardy testing her luck at becoming a full-fledged superhero. This marks a bold new direction for her solo adventures, as Black Cat takes on supervillains—including some of Spider-Man’s most notorious foes—while continuing her high-stakes escapades. But is her recent turn toward heroism truly noble, or just another clever setup for her greatest heist yet?

Super-thief… or superhero?

Felicia Hardy is the Black Cat, one of the world’s most cunning and skilled thieves. She thrives on a good challenge, especially when the odds are stacked against her. But everything changed after Spider-Man’s brutal showdown with Hellgate in Amazing Spider-Man #8-9. Now, Felicia is trying something new: becoming New York City’s latest superhero. Her first big test? Facing off against the Lizard. But how far is she willing to go in her new role, especially when her good deeds start drawing the wrong kind of attention from the city’s criminal underworld? And don’t worry, Kingpin, she’s still taking a little off the top… maybe.

Expect plenty of twists, humor, and high-octane action as Black Cat embarks on this thrilling new chapter.

This series marks Wilson’s first ongoing Marvel title since her groundbreaking run on Ms. Marvel. She previously wrote a short Black Cat story for Spider-Man: Black Suit & Blood #4.

What do the creators have to say?

“As soon as Spider-Man: Black Suit & Blood dropped and people saw the Black Cat story, readers began to ask me ‘When are you going to write more Felicia?’ Well, the answer is: right now,” Wilson shared. “Black Cat is so much fun to work with. She’s a supporting character with main character energy. And she has such a rich history that there are tons of tantalizing story threads to pull on.”

“I was itching to draw more of Felicia after finishing my first Spider-Man issue, so when [Editor] Tom Groneman asked if I was interested in working on the Black Cat series, I typed ‘YES!’ faster than a lightning bolt,” Melnikov said. “Black leather, street-level fights, and the chance to draw our favorite usual suspects from Spidey’s rogues gallery? Sign me up! Not to mention I’m very excited to work with Willow and color artist Brian Valenza.”
