Radiant Black #26 – Image Comics/Black Market Narrative

Creative Team: Kyle Higgins and Joe Clark (Writers), Eduardo Ferigato (Artist), Raul Angulo (Colorist), Becca Carey (Letters)

Radiant Black’s Issue #26, part of the Catalyst War event, is a thrilling rollercoaster of a comic. To fully enjoy the experience, you should definitely pick up both 26 and 26.5 (A and B covers), as they split the narrative into two timelines – one with Marshall wielding the radiant and the other with Nathan stepping up as Radiant Black. Also, a quick reread of both issues #25 and #25.5 (A and B covers) is recommended to refresh your memory.

Kyle Higgins and Joe Clark waste no time in turning things up to 11 and giving fans what they have been looking forward to ever since that panel was revealed in the first supermassive book!

Higgins and Clark launch readers into heart-pounding action sequences and showcasing incredible designs of the robot army with mind-bending abilities. The dual approach taken by Marshall and Nathan adds a layer of complexity, making it tough to pick a favorite Radiant. Nathan’s growth with his powers is remarkable, but Marshall’s leadership skills are equally compelling. Because of this, I have conflicting feelings for who I want to wield the radiant at the end of this event. This truly demonstrates Higgins’ skills in character development, as he has successfully invested us deeply in these characters’ journeys, making us genuinely care about their fates.

The story’s setup, writing, and flow in the first four issues of the Catalyst War are stellar. Higgins and Clark maintain a breakneck pace, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. The immersion factor is high, thanks to Eduardo Ferigato’s detailed artwork, especially in the characters’ faces, conveying their emotions effectively.

Raul Angulo’s colors pop off the page, particularly during the intense action sequences, adding an extra layer of excitement. Becca Carey’s letters further enhance the cinematic feel, driving both the action and emotion.

Final Thoughts:

The amount of action that has already happened in this second issue (26 and 26.5) of the event has me ecstatic to see what MASSIVE swings are yet to come! How will more of the radiants be involved in future issues? Will Nathan and Marshall’s styles change on how they handle the next challenges from the Catalyst? With this incredible creative team at the helm, I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!

Overall Grade: 9.5 out of 10
