The comic book world is about to experience a paradigm shift as writer Deniz Camp (20th Century Men), artist Eric Zawadzki (House of El), colorist Jordie Bellaire (Birds of Prey), and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou (Time Before Time) collaborate on Assorted Crisis Events. This ambitious, timeless ongoing series, published by Image Comics, will hit shelves on March 12, 2024.
A Sci-Fi Anthology Like No Other
Imagine stepping out of your front door only to find yourself trapped in a time loop, encountering alternate versions of yourself, or navigating a space portal. In Assorted Crisis Events, time itself is in chaos. Normal people grapple with surreal scenarios like cavemen mingling with cyborg soldiers, Victorian debutantes shopping for smartphones, and buses accidentally traveling to prehistoric eras. The series weaves together one-shot stories of everyday individuals struggling to survive as the rules of time collapse around them.
Fans of Crisis on Infinite Earths, Black Mirror, and Doctor Who will find themselves at home in this universe where the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
The Creative Vision Behind the Crisis
Writer Deniz Camp describes the series as both an anthology of individual tales and a larger narrative exploring the root of the time crisis and its potential resolution. “Every member of the creative team adds so much to every issue—no one is just doing a job, they’re all artists in the truest sense,” said Camp. “If you’ve liked anything I’ve ever written before, please pick this up. You will not be disappointed.”
Artist Eric Zawadzki calls Assorted Crisis Events a “dream project,” pushing the boundaries of what comics can achieve. “Deniz’s ambitions with pushing the boundaries of the medium of comics match my own,” Zawadzki shared. “Every script is a new challenge, and it’s resulted in the proudest work of my career.”
The series also boasts the contributions of Eisner-winning colorist Jordie Bellaire and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, who elevate each issue with their masterful craft.
